This week we have an exclusive guest post from fellow travel blogger Kim Edelsbacher – Instagram (Think Gypsy)!  For her, travel is all about stepping outside of her comfort zone. Here are the top 5 travel experiences that push those limits!

When we travel, we get to step into a whole new world. A world with new people, new food, and new experiences. Some of my favorite travel moments happened when I took a step into this new world.

thinkgypsyBackpacking in Italy: last fall my boyfriend and I made a spontaneous decision to backpack Europe for a month. We traveled to half a dozen countries including Germany, Budapest, France, and Austria. But my favorite stop was Italy. We hopped on a bus and made our way to an Airbnb on the Amalfi Coast. Our days in the city of Praiano were spent exploring farmers markets, cliff beaches, and sitting on our balcony enjoying the view of the Mediterranean Sea.

thinkgypsyIcelandic Road trip: I’m not the biggest fan of long flights so I like to try to break up a long trip with stop overs. On my last trip to Europe I stopped in Iceland for a few days and went on a mini adventure. Iceland is a truly magical place and trust me when I say you will never get sick of seeing waterfalls!

thinkgypsyBudapest Cafés: being a true coffee Addict i like to look for coffee shops in any city I go to. During my backpacking trip in Budapest we discovered that this city was overflowing with them. We spent an entire day hopping from one unique coffee shop to another. It was amazing! I mean seriously who wouldn’t want to drink coffee with a snack wrapped around your arm!

thinkgypsyOktoberfest: You can’t go to Germany in the fall and skip Oktoberfest, that would be insane! My boyfriend and I decided that if we were going to do it, we were going to really embrace Oktoberfest. We went to a campsite in Munich, Germany run by a travel company called Stoked Travel. Wearing our traditional German Dirndl and Lederhosen we indulged in amazing beer, crazy campsite shenanigans, and a fair that we would never forget. Not to toot my own horn but I killed the traditional beer chugging games!

thinkgypsyAustria: being born in Austria I have a bit of an advantage when it comes to exploring the Alps. Every summer that I go back is filled with exploring rooftop cafes in Vienna, hiking mountains in Salzburg, or just enjoying the local cuisine back home in Steyr. What makes Austria my favorite travel destination is that there is no limit to what can be explored! Whatever your mood, city or nature, Austria has a way of pulling you in.

thinkgypsyThe world is an amazing place and it becomes even more amazing the more I explore. With 34 countries checked off my list, there’s a lot more to come. Follow my travel adventures on Instagram at @thinkgypsy and @le_travel_fever !!

All the best,
