Impulse Odyssey Explores Phi Phi Island (Thailand)

by Alex

We have finally found paradise on Earth. The famous Phi Phi Island, located in the Andaman Sea near the southernmost point of Thailand, provided one of the most gorgeous settings I have ever witnessed. When we arrived, we decided that that night, we would check out the festivities and the following day, we would wake up at 5am to explore the islands.

All across Thailand, the cheapest and most popular drinks are called Buckets. For about 200 Baht (7 US Dollars) they add 6-8 shots of liquor, Thai Red Bull, and a mixer. Needless to say, these things really get the party started. I found a sweet bungalow right on the west beach of Phi Phi Island where we would be right in the middle of the endless Long Beach night festivities. The water was about 60 feet away from us, and I realized that this is a true paradise, my friends.

As the celebration began, people slowly started to trickle in and by the end of the night, there were hundreds of people on the beach partying. Festivities included fire spinners, flame spitters, dancers, multiple DJs, crazy LED lights, a limbo setup, Hawaiian style dance events, and people dancing all over the beach and in the water. It was absolute insanity and I loved every second of it!

We met up with friends from Chicago, friends from California we had met on the ferry ride over, and friends we met on the island from Israel, Brazil, and Spain. This is among my favorite features of traveling; you end up running into countless different incredible people who share your love for adventure, fun, and global connectivity! Our group decided to get glow in the dark body paint and I volunteered to go first.

The little kid who painted me was awesome!

I got voted to enter the jump rope competition and I think I did pretty well!

The fire spinners were fantastic and the beach was completely filled with people from around the world by the end of the night.

It was a fantastic way to begin our escapades on Phi Phi Island. I don’t think I slept at all going into the next day because our next adventure began at 6am.

Let’s explore the island now…..
